    About This Fundraiser

    Team Tators is a Boise, Idaho based FIRST Robotics Team founded in 2007 and is built on the foundation of gracious professionalism, sportsmanship, and hard work, while having fun doing it.  The team is a highly competitive group of technically-minded high school students and professional volunteer mentors and typically qualifies in regional events to compete in the World Championships in Houston, Texas, yearly.  Competitors and fans typically number more than 30,000 for the national event.

    FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.”  A volunteer-driven worldwide organization, it is built on partnerships with businesses, individuals, educational institutions, and government.  Last year, 3,468 teams from 28 countries participated.  FRC challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem, typically in the form of a game to be played by robots, in a six-week timeframe with a common set of rules.  Regional winners then compete in a national competition held in Houston in the spring.

    Team Tators helps students build work ethic and a greater sense of responsibility.  Students develop the ability to balance academics with design responsibilities, enhanced communication skills both within the team and to others, and insights into the benefits of team work and the importance of goal setting and collaboration.  All these activities contribute to the success of the team, while also supporting students in their skill development.  These skills will serve them well throughout high school, college, and on into their careers.
