The Mahalos are Lamoille County's only 16U baseball team. We're a team of kids and parents who have practiced and played together since Little League. Our team was born during the summer of 2020 when everyone in the world went into lock down. We decided to play during that summer and fall and, fully masked and "Baseball distanced" we played more than 30 games.
Many of those original Mahalos are still playing on the current team and have been joined by other players and families who want, not just to play baseball, but to be competitive with the best in the State. This is no small task because we don't ask families for large amounts of money and we don't require the kids to only play baseball. We maintain a schedule that allows for plenty of time for summer fun but when we practice, we go hard and when we play, we play to win!
So we're asking for your help, as someone who is close to the player who is sending you this request. The money will go towards what has become a considerable expense of uniforms, umpire fees, equipment and team experiences. We estimate that it will cost $4,000 to $5,000 to run the season this year and if we can cover that through donations, coaches, players and families can all breathe a little easier and focus on the game and these young men.
Mahalo has many meanings, one of which is Grateful and that's how we started, during a strange and scary time for all of us, we were grateful to be outside, playing baseball. Today, we're still grateful for everything we have and we appreciate and are thankful for whatever you can contribute.
