Over the past 18 years, Rosa Middle School has competed in the National History Day (NHD) competition. If you are unfamiliar with NHD, it is way more than just a day, it is a lifetime journey. The competition encourages students to research a topic through a specific lens or theme, and this year’s theme is Turning Points in History. The students present their historical findings in one of five ways: paper, website, exhibit, performance, or documentary.
Research is conducted outside the school day on a totally voluntary basis. No credit is awarded, and no grades are earned, this is done for the love of history and with the hope to represent our state at the National Contest held at the University of Maryland June 9-13, 2024.

***This year, Rosa will be taking the largest team ever to the National History Day's National Exhbition in College Park, MD!! 20 students, 3 teachers, and 6 projects will represent Rosa, Cherry Hill and the state of New Jersey (these 6 groups have already won the Regional NJ Competition and the State of NJ Competition!)! In fact, for the first time ever, Rosa swept three categories of projects at the State level--junior group documentaries, junior group exhibits, and junior group performance!
These young scholars have truly uncovered history with topics such as Isaac T. Hopper and the Underground Railroad, The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, the killing of Vincent Chin, The Children's March of Birmingham, Thomas Paine, and Holocaust rescuer Chiune Sugihara.
Please help send our students to Nationals! The cost for each student is $620. These youth historians have placed over 2,000 hours of research into their projects just for the love of it. Our motto is to Go Big! and with your help, we can do this and represent Rosa, Cherry Hill and New Jersey.
